The resistance welding methods
The process of electric resistance welding includes stop and steam welding that result in coalescence of surfaces where the heat is generated by the electrical resistance of the combined materials and the force that is used to stick welders the materials together during the arc welding process.
The arc welding temperatures are influenced by different factors such as the metal coating, the electrode geometry, the work piece proportions, the electrode materials, the pressing force, the duration of the welding time and the electrical current. The resistance welding methods are efficient and are preferred since they do not cause pollution. However, the resistance welding methods have certain limitations as they could be applied on thin materials mainly and the cost of the mig welding equipment could be quite high.
The spot welding method is used when joining two overlapping metal sheets, electrical wiring hangers, studs or projections. With that method the plasma cutting welding equipment and the power sources should be properly sized to weld the materials together.
The spot welding uses electrical power of direct current or alternating current, as well as half-wave direct current of medium or high frequency. The spot welding method include limited deformation of the work pieces, efficient usage of energy, easy automation, high production rates, no usage of filler materials.
The steam welding method results in a weld made at the faying surface of two metals that are similar. The seam is usually a process that is automated, that could be an overlap or a butt joint. The steam welding uses two electrodes in order to apply current and pressure.
The electrodes are shaped with disc and rotate when the material passes through them. In this way the electrodes stay in constant contact with the material and make long welds. The stick welder for sale joint gets energy from a transformer, which comes in low voltage and AC power of high current.
The work pieces have serious electrical resistance and during the joint they are heated to such an extent as they reach their melting point.
